A budget field can support internal project planning without representing an invoice or a payment. I want that purpose to be apparent in the label and the surrounding interface. An estimated amount should not quietly become a financial commitment.
The currency and intended visibility should be clear. If the application does not handle billing, it should not present controls that suggest it does. A modest planning feature remains useful when its boundaries are understood.
