The width of a paragraph influences how a reader moves from one line to the next. A line that stretches across a wide screen can make that movement tiring. A very narrow measure can break the flow just as easily.
I test body copy with real paragraphs instead of a short placeholder. Font size, line height and column width need to work together. The right combination should support the intended pace of reading at both comfortable desktop sizes and smaller screens.
