A portfolio can explain useful design work without attaching an unsupported result to it. If a project does not have reliable outcome data, I focus on the problem, contribution and delivered material. Those details still give the reader a meaningful account.
A change in layout can be described directly. A claim about revenue or behaviour needs evidence beyond the visual comparison. I want the writing to make the work easier to assess while keeping its limits visible.
